Instructional design & development // Western North Carolina
Learning experiences, and the machinery behind them.
Interactive learning, and the pipelines, tools, and component systems that make it hold up — SCORM conversions, Canvas rebuilds, and study tools that run for semesters without a maintenance call.
Case studies
- 01 The Moodle → Canvas Migration
A state-bid contract chose the LMS. The machinery I built decided what survived the move.
- 02 Moodle Lessons → SCORM
Canvas has no Lesson activity. A shared engine carried ACA-122's lessons across — upgraded.
- 03 Moodle XML → QTI Converter
Canvas accepted the quiz files, then silently dropped questions. This is the tool that fixed it.
The Lab
- 01 BRCC HTML Component Library
A Canvas-safe design system — inline styles only, WCAG reasoning documented per component. Copy, paste, accessible.
- 02 Crafting Conversations: Prompt Engineering with Generative AI
A Rise 360 course teaching faculty and staff to work with AI — six strategies, stepped process interactions, three knowledge-check types.
- 03 MKT-120 Module 2.1: Strategic Planning
One lesson, three interaction technologies: Rise blocks where reading suffices, a card sort where the BCG Matrix is the skill, Storyline where more was needed.
- 04 ACC-121 Branching Scenario
A negotiation scenario for managerial accounting where the feedback system is the character's face — wrong turns make Howard worry.
